Beach Day with Baby

June 16, 2017 43 Comments

Summer is here and it's time for some sunshine + salt water! If you have plans to take baby to the beach this season, we wanted to share our favorite tips + tricks with you to help your day be as carefree as possible! First tip: don't expect it to go perfect. But with these tips, hopefully you'll actually be able to enjoy yourself!

Beach days are a whole lot different with kids involved. Don't expect to just close your eyes + sun-tan for hours. Instead of sipping a frozen margarita, it'll probably be an iced coffee. But we promise, beach with baby is still a blast!
#1 - Bring pacifier clips + bows! Our pacifier clips are perfect to keep baby's pacifier clip handy and also out of the sand. Hopefully the beach wears baby out after a bit, and he or she will be ready for a nap! Our pacifier clip will keep his favorite pacifier close by. We also recommend bringing a few dainty bow headbands for those mamas of girls. The beach can be super windy at times, and you'll want to keep baby's hair out of their face the whole time. We like the yellow dainty bow headband for the beach, but we sell tons of different colors!

#2 - Pack some baby sunglasses! Sometimes we forget about protecting baby's eyes. Our favorite kid glasses are the Babiators. These are great for baby because they bend and are shatter-resistant.
#3 - Bring a tiny pool/inflatable tub. We love the munchkin inflatable duck tub. This thing is perfect to keep baby cool at the beach. It folds up really small to fit in your beach bag. Once you're at the beach, blow it up and add a little salt water!
#4 - Protect baby with a great swim suit. There are tons of cute swim suits out there for baby or toddler. We like Swim Zip because their clothes provide more coverage than other options. And they are made out of UV protected fabric! They are super easy to get on and off, too!
#5 - Bring some shade! This tent is perfect for baby at the beach because it sets up in seconds + provides that shade that babies need! Perfect for a mid-day nap, too!
#6 - Bring a fun towel. Henry & Bros has the cutest towels and blankets. This rainbow one is our favorite for a beach day. It's extra large - so perfect to lay out for baby to play on or wrap baby up after playing in the water!
#7 - Pack the essentials like sunscreen & baby powder. Obviously you need a great sunscreen for yourself + baby. We love the honest company one! Don't forget to pack some baby powder too. After baby gets all sandy, you can brush a bit of baby powder over their skin and it helps the sand to come off easier!
We'd love to hear from you! What are your must-haves for a beach trip with baby!!!

I like that pop-up tent! We don’t live near a beach, but it would be good for our backyard too.

We have a Norh States play yard (6-piece collapsible baby gate) & we bring it with us! Helps to keep the toddler contained & super easy to pack up and transport!! A lifesaver, quite literally since she can’t run to the water!

Popcicles!!!!! We freeze squeeze, ice pops in a 13×9 pan of water. No, seriously. The ice melts but keeps the popcicles frozen for long enough for the kids to play and then are ready for a cold treat. Doubles as our ice packs. WIN WIN!!!!

The next ~month of this summer will be spent awaiting little k’s arrival! I’m hoping to spend a lot of that time at local beaches and pools, drinking pink lemonade. :)
After that, learning life with a baby! <3

We are at the beach this week and have used many of these tips, including baby powder and a beach tent! I think the swim guard/UV swimwear is so helpful for wriggly babies that don’t like sunscreen being applied! We found a cute one at Target :)

This is my first experience with a little one and I feel as though I stress so much, trying to get out the door with absolutely everything she may need. With this list, I know what are musts and what could stay home. Although we don’t live close to a beach, we hope to get ourselves near the pool quite a bit this summer, if we can get through work and also get these temps closer to the 90s instead of 115!! :P
